About Chinese Evergreen 'Silver Queen'

History

Chinese Evergreens were brought to the West in 1885 at Kew Gardens. They have since been cultivated and bred into a wide range of cultivars with dozens of colours available commercially.

Cultivation

Although a lengthy process, Chinese Evergreens are propagated by using existing stems. Cut the stem from the plant using clean scissors or secateurs. Remove the lower leaves, dip the cutting in rooting powder then plant it in compost.

Care

Chinese Evergreens can tolerate a range of light conditions. Usually, paler leaves mean more light is needed. With Aglaonema 'Silver Queen', the more bright, indirect light the house plant receives the more silver patterning will be produced.

Did you know?

Chinese Evergreens are air purifiers, removing toxins such as formaldehyde and benzene from the air.

Toxicity

If ingested this plant can be toxic or poisonous so keep away from dogs, cats or other pets and small children.
