About Terrarium Bonsai

History

The art of Bonsai has long been associated with Japan, however, it originated in China. Bonsai can live for centuries and are often passed through generations.

Cultivation

The roots of the houseplant are cultivated in China and Malaysia, where they are grown for around 15 years to develop their thick trunks. They are then imported into Europe by Dutch growers and grafted to create their classic bonsai look.

Care

This terrarium is happiest in a bright spot, but be sure to keep it out of direct sunlight. List the lid for a couple of hours each week to let gasses out and fresh air in. If condensation builds up inside the terrarium, lift the lid more frequently for a longer period of time.

The worlds smallest known bonsai is Acer Momiji, which only grows to 6cm in height!
